This new residential project for Penna Construction in beautiful Capistrano Beach, Southern California, is a prime example of our expertise in high-performance structural design. We engineered a robust and efficient solution using a combination of industry-leading materials and techniques.

Engineered for Excellence

The project’s foundation and exterior walls were constructed using an Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) system. This method not only provides exceptional energy efficiency by creating a highly insulated thermal envelope but also offers superior strength and resilience against high winds and seismic activity.

For the second floor, we specified a Hambro composite floor system. This robust steel and concrete solution allows for long, clear spans, giving the homeowner a flexible, open floor plan. It also provides a high level of fire resistance and reduces sound transmission between floors, creating a quieter, safer living environment.

To cap off the structure, the roof was designed with TJI joists. These engineered wood I-joists are both lightweight and incredibly strong, enabling us to create expansive, open ceiling designs while ensuring the roof’s long-term stability and integrity.
